StartUp Weekend North Central Washington Registration Now Open!

by

Registration is now open for Startup Weekend North Central Washington, which is a weekend-long event designed to allow entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs with nothing more than an idea for a business or product to find out if their startup ideas are viable. It’s a tremendous opportunity to take an idea and accelerate it into a viable business in the span of one weekend. The event is scheduled for June 7-9, 2013 and will be held at the Confluence Technology Center.
StartUp Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 400 past events in 100 countries around the world in 2011.
On average, half of Startup Weekend’s attendees have technical or design backgrounds, the other half have business backgrounds. While there are hundreds of events throughout the world, this is the first time the event will be held in this region. Startup Weekend North Central Washington is co-hosted by the North Central Washington Economic Development District and the Greater Wenatchee Area Technology Alliance.
Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team to develop a business or product idea. Over Saturday and Sunday teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas, practicing LEAN Startup Methodologies and building a minimally viable product with the guidance of a team of invited coaches and mentors ready and willing to offer assistance and expertise. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts. Prizes are awarded to the teams who have best presented their vetted ideas and can demonstrate a readiness to launch.
“One interesting aspect of the Startup Weekend that I witnessed first-hand while attending an event in Spokane last month was simply the mix of those attending. While it’s true that these events draw budding entrepreneurs with an idea for a business or product, business professionals interested in being part of the development process, or are interested in working with and securing a new client also attend. It’s a great chance for established professionals and budding entrepreneurs to connect, gain insight and earn business,” explained North Central Washington Economic Development District Administrator Jennifer Korfiatis.
Startup Weekend North Central Washington is June 7-9. The early bird registration fee is $79 through May 20. To learn more and register, visit: http://northcentralwashington.startupweekend.org/
